  • To impart Technical Education and training to the students at Diploma level

  • To implement the policies of the Government on Technical Education and to co-ordinate and regulate the working of Technical Institutions in the State.

  • To liaison with State Government and District authorities to establish new Government Polytechnics in the State.

  • To liaison with the All India Council for Technical Education (A.I.C.T.E.), New Delhi, South Central Regional Office of A.I.C.T.E., at Hyderabad, the State Government, the A.P State Council of Higher Education, Board of Apprenticeship Training and other bodies connected with the Technical Education to grant approvals and impart Training to the students to create better employment opportunities for the Diploma students

  • To liaison with National Institute of Technical Teachers Training Institute and Research, Chennai and Vijayawada to provide training to the Staff towards improvement of quality of teacher.

  • To co-ordinate with the State Board of Technical Education and Training, an autonomous body for review and revision of curriculum, Syllabi and scheme of Examinations for various diploma courses offered in Polytechnics, to conduct the Polytechnic Common Entrance Test (POLYCET) and to arrange refresher training Programs for staff under Staff Development Programme.

  • To assess the Budget requirement and prepare the Budget Estimates for effective functioning of the Government Polytechnics in the State especially for Modernization of Laboratories to match the Industry skills-set.

  • To identify training places in industry for placement of diploma holders in various branches of Engineering and Non-Engineering Subjects under Apprenticeship Training Programme.

  • To cause inspection of Commercial and Technical Institutions imparting Typewriting, Shorthand etc., and to issue for orders recognition of institutions.

  • To process the approval and affiliations of courses for the institutions offering Engineering, MCA, MBA and B-Pharmacy courses etc, received from AICTE and Universities and send the proposal to Government for intake G.O.

  • To conduct Web based Counselling towards admissions for the qualified candidates in EAPCET, ECET and POLYCET.

  • To conduct student transfers of pursuing Engineering and Pharmacy courses from one college to another.

  • To assists in identification of temporary locations, land allotment, construction of compound walls, water supply, supply of electricity and approach roads as the Commissioner of Technical Education was appointed as Nodal Officer vide G.O. Rt. No. 462, Higher Education (EC.A2) Department dated 22-11-2014 for the National Level Institutions

  • To provide Grant-In-Aid to the institution under the control of the Department.

  • To liaison between Technical institutions and NBA and to provide resources to the institutions for obtaining the Accreditation from National Board of Accreditation to maintain the quality standards in Technical Education.
